Lovely Spring Sunshine.

The recent lovely weather and a little rain have been good for my garden. This has been good for me too as it has encouraged me to be a bit more enterprising, I have managed to walk into town several times to get household shopping as well as prescriptions and a visit to the surgery for a blood test. The round trip usually takes about an hour for the 1.5 miles so not a bad rate of travel as that includes the fairly short time in the shops.. The little trolley has proved invaluable as I can sit on it for a rest whenever I need a break.

As you can see from my pictures my garden helper has been back to tidy up the garden again. The front garden looks much better but I am a little disappointed at the results in the back garden. I believe his plant knowledge is not good enough to distinguish correctly between weeds and flowers. However, he has made it easier for me to start doing a little weeding myself so I can remove some of the weeds he has missed.

On May 6th I had an appointment at the RHCH for a consultation with the oncology specialist. My good friend Reg Ashe was kind enough to take me and hang around for nearly two hours to bring me home again. Many thanks, Reg. The news from the consultant was good with a very low PSA level to report.

The rest of May has been largely dry and I have managed to do some weeding and tidying up myself with the help of my grandson Archie on two occasions. One border had become very overgrown with ground elder but several hours of work on it have reduced it to more manageable proportions.

Here are some more pictures which you may find help you to visualise the garden and what has been going on.

Other flowering shrubs.

Daisies left for the bees by Pete when mowing

Laburnum grown from a seedling.

The spaghetti-like roots of the Ground Elder.

Of course, I have been well supported by my daughter and family and have continued to employ Anna to do a weekly cleaning for me. I also had my oven cleaned so I can now see through the glass door to see when the food is done.

Before and after pictures.

June has begun well with good weather for the Jubilee celebrations which I opted not to take part in physically, but I did watch some of it on TV.

Best wishes to all my readers,

Bryce
